December Reflections, January Intentions

Rather than doing Resolutions, I keep up with long-term goals using 101 Things in 1,001 Days and shorter term goals using my monthly reflections and intentions. Here’s what I’m planning for January:
December Reflections:
Finish my Runkeeper 5K Training program. FAIL. After a week of trying to do the Runner’s World Streak, I developed a painful shin splint and had to take off a few weeks to recuperate.
Continue Promoting Blue Cupcake. SUCCESS. I appeared in USA Today, which was amazing! I also donated two sets of the Variety Pack to Kim Vasnik’s Give All The Things giveaway.
Be Festive. FAIL. Aside from holiday parties, Erik and I didn’t really do anything festive. We went to the Minneapolis Holidazzle parade, but it just didn’t seem to fulfill my need for a true Christmas activity.
Finish Strong at School. SUCCESS. My grades for this term are an A- in College Algebra w/ Trigonometry, a B+ in Anatomy & Physiology, and a B in Introduction to the Principles of Chemistry. I totally could have done better in Chemistry, but I just didn’t study hard enough and kind of assumed I would just remember everything. I did get better as the semester progressed, but obviously not well enough.
Get Close to my 2012 GoodReads Goal: FAIL. I only ended up reading one additional book in December, so I ended with 19 books finished out of a goal of 30. For 2013, I’ve lowered the bar a bit to 25 books. It will still be a stretch, but hopefully a more do-able stretch.
January Intentions:
Successfully Complete the Whole30. Check out yesterday’s post for more details on the Whole 30. I’ll have more on the BBB next week!
Stay on Top of Best Body Bootcamp. This is something I’m doing to get my fitness back on track. As much as I enjoy running, I know that what my body really needs is strength training. I have found it difficult to run with so much weight, so I’m hoping that the 8 week program of strength training (with one day of cardio) will get me into better shape to tackle running in the spring. Which, coincidentally, is when the weather is better and much more pleasant to run outside! No more dreadmill for me!
Continue to Promote Blue Cupcake with Two Blog Hits. I want to continue selling cards (obviously) and the best way to do that right now is to promote the heck out Blue Cupcake! I’m hoping for at least two more blog mentions in January.
Take Either a Zumba, Pilates or Yoga class. I’m not sure which one I’ll do (or maybe I’ll do all of them) but these are also on my 101 Things list to try.
Work On My Book. This is sort of a semi-announcement, because I’ll be sharing more tomorrow, but I’m writing a book! About diabetes! Whee! So my main goal is to 1) flesh out the outline, 2) research, 3) line up at least 5 interviews and 4) contact contributors. I’ve never written a book before, so I only have the vaguest sense of what a book needs, but these are a few things that I know I need to do this month while I’m on winter break from school.
